In his exhibition catalogue, The Landscape in the Mist ( Osaka Contemporary Art Centre, 2004), Isao Yamada writes about Toshiya Kobayashi who “aspires to see through his acts of erasing the world”. In the sublime tranquillity, you will find something beautiful and ephemeral which “exists within the space between the scenes”.
